Myth about a poem
For this post I chose to write about the poem Cinderella, by Anne
Sexton. I have always been a fanatic of
the Cinderella stories. Anne Sexton talks about myths in this poem. She makes a comparison to myth through the
stories rags to riches. Sexton's final stanza suggestion about the was fairy
tales end is that main character in the
story always ends up living happily ever after and the villains get what is
coming to them. Cinderella is a recognizable legend. Most know about the evil
stepmother and stepsisters. How the prince throws a ball to find his bride. How
Cinderella is not allow to go and in some miracle she is dressed in the most
beautiful dress at the ball. The princes falls in love, but she must run by the
strike of mid night. All that is left is
her slipper. The prince goes in search of his mystery love. Finds her and marries
her. Very beautiful story but a myth.
